At Sigma Alpha Epsilon, we feel that you must earn your way to becoming an ΣAE. It takes certain qualities in a young man that can qualify him to receive a bid for pledgeship. During pledgeship, you will have more fun in one period of 8 weeks than you will have the rest of your life. You will become best friends and ultimately Brothers with people that were once strangers to you; people from different backgrounds and from all across the country. Your pledge brothers will be by your side and on speed dial for the rest of your life. You have all of this fun while learning what it means to be an ΣAE. This means that you will learn what it means to be your Brother’s Keeper, and becoming “one” with your pledge class. Each pledge holds an office, so you will understand what it takes to be a leader in the Greek community and the University upon initiation. You must maintain a 2.5 GPA throughout pledging, as well as learn and understand the history of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. You must memorize our Creed, the True Gentleman, and understand what it takes to be one. If all of these qualifications are met, you will become a neophyte, until you are finally initiated along with your pledge brothers. Some of the best times you can have as an ΣAE is to just sit around with a few of your Brothers and talk about the fond memories you had during pledging.
